Rautahat, July 5: One person died and atleast twelve people  were injured in a clash between police and locals in Rautahat district on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Ramud Sah of Laxmipur VDC of the district. He was killed when police fired several rounds of shots in the air to disperse the crowd that had been blocking the Gaur-Chandranigahapur road section in the district to protest against the arrest of a tractor driver involved in an accident.

The clash between the police and locals erupted when local people started protesting against the arrest of a tractor driver.

The locals said the tractor carrying marriage procession at the time had not hit the motorcyclist. Instead the motorcyclist had slammed his bike on the tractor.
