Monsoon affects domestic air services

Kathmandu, August 5: The domestic air services have been adversely affected due to the monsoon in various parts of the country.

More than half the flights to various destinations in the remote mountainous region are canceled daily due to the bad weather and incessant rainfall, according to the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

Mainly, flights to Lukla, Faplu, Syangboche, Lamidanda, Bhojpur, Tumlingtar, Rumjatar among other hilly areas in the East could not be operated. Likewise, the flights to Humla, Jumla, Dolpa, and Mugu from Nepalgunj and Surkhet in the West had to be cancelled due to the monsoon.

No flights were operated to Dunai Airport of Dolpa and Talcha Airport of Mugu for one and half month due to bad weather condition. Flights to Dang and Chaurjahari of Rukum were completely affected due to fair-weather airport condition.
