Government talks with two armed group of Terai

Sunsari, August 5: The government on Saturday held talks with two armed groups operating in the eastern Terai and hilly region.  The talks were held in two different places in Sunsari district.

During the talks held at the Armed Police Force (APF)’s Barahi Brigade Headquarters Pakali, the Morcha handed over seven home-made pistols, a sixer revolver and misfired ammunition to the government team headed by Peace and Reconstruction Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi.

As per an agreement reached between the two sides, the Morcha shall collect arms in possession of its cadres and submit them to the government. Similarly, cases filed by the government against Morcha cadres shall be withdrawn.

The talks between the government and Khambuwan Mukti Morcha (Samyukta) were held at the office of Itahari Municipality. A six-point agreement was signed between the government and the Morcha. As per the agreement, the government shall release the Morcha cadres arrested during the armed agitation.
